PAID BY DON HOUSE FOR IRB CITY COMMISSION
But in those early days I didn't know anything existed east of Gulf Blvd. 'Cross the bridge and don't leave the beach' was my credo. Mid 90's when I moved here permanently, I got on my bike to explore the rest of my town. By the way, this was before my Harley so there was a lot of pedaling.
But length of stay does not automatically qualify you to make the important decisions affecting this city. For the past 25 years I have been attending many city commission meetings. Not all of them, my life is not that pathetic, but a lot more than anyone else running. My opponents only go to meetings when they are running for office or being paid to go.
From the early 70's IRB has had a place in my heart. Since then I've seen a lot of changes. If you've been here less than 40 years you don't know IRB without an eleven story high rise. I smile when asked about keeping a "small town" feeling. When I mention "Archies" I get mostly blank stares. Update to "Phoenix", same reaction. It's now a vacant lot.
70s at the beach. Notice how narrow the beach was. Oh, and the bird's name is Charley. He'll show up in a lot of pics. Not the same bird but we called them all Charley.
NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
For those that doubt that I drove 307. Okay it was a European version so that was in KPH but 191 MPH is still pretty fast.
